Mural in Regla, Havanna

This long wall beside the ferry station was painted together with the Cuban artists Victor Morra, Raúl Camilo and Santana.

The Regla Ferry has its own story. In 2003 a vessel was hijacked to stage an escape to Miami. Three of the Hijackers were shot quickly after they have been tried by a martial-law court. At the inauguration ceremony of our mural, the Berlin Beam Boys illuminated the old ferry station. Because some of our painting motifs in Regla have been censored, we projected them onto the building. The erstwhile hijacked vessel is still tied inside.

Yemayá, the Allmother, Goddess of the Ocean and saltwater, motherliness and reason. She has her counterpart in the black Virgen de la Regla, who became a central motif of our mural.
